The Carlyle Residences are the newest high rise development in Westwood’s Wilshire Corridor. Completed in 2009, this is the last high rise building that can be constructed in the Corridor.
The building was developed by Elad Properties who’s luxury property pedigree is impressive. Their main market has been in New York although they have property all over the US. Elad Prpts was also the developer of the Plaza Hotel.
Miki Naftali, CEO of Elad said they wanted to bring ‘the flavor of New York to LA’ with the Carlyle. The moment you drive onto the European style cobblestone circular driveway and park beside the jet black oval fountain (one of several on the property), you are greeted by white glove valets in uniforms; you start to feel like New York.
The Carlyle was designed by KMD Architects who also designed ‘the Wilshire’.
The Carlyle has 78 residences, with six penthouse units on the top three floors. The units are large (2,800sqft to 3,500sqft) and there are only 4 units a floor. There are no hallways. Four separate Elevators go directly to the foyer in each unit on each floor. This gives owners the upmost convenience and privacy.
Kitchens have two styles, a traditional and a modern style. There is a large center island. The formal dining right off the kitchen has wonderful views and comfortably seats 6-8 guests.
Living room is at the center of the floorplan and makes you feel right at home the second you step into your unit.
The units have HUGE Masters with en suite masterbath and walk in closets. The 3br floorplans have his and hers master closet and his and hers baths. 11 foot ceilings. The homes are smart, with Touch panel controls for lighting, temperature and to request valet/concierge.
Units facing Wilshire have 1 balcony off the living room.
Units facing South have 2 balconies, one off the living room and another from the masterbedroom. The balconies aren’t large enough for furniture- they are best used to stand and get some fresh air and take in the views.
I love the lobby in the Carlyle, mainly because of the
original glass-blown chandelier by Dale Chihuly. There is a $1 million sculpture of fine art dangling in the lobby!
I became a Chihuly fan when he did Fiori di Como in the Bellagio 1998, the glass he did there reminds me of umbrellas, very beautiful and inspiring.
Full Service Concierge! They can even wash and detail your car in the sub terrain parking garage. There is a temperature controlled wine cellar on the lobby level- which is great in California we have great wine! Fitness Center designed by Sports Club LA and is over 2,000 sq. ft. Heated pool and spa, 53’ x 13’ between 3′ – 5’4” deep.
Prices range from 2M on the 3rd floor, to 3-4 M on the 4th to 20th floor and penthouses from 6M to 15M. HOA’s from 2,200 to 2,400 mo.
