Doheny Plaza Condominiums is a mid-century luxury highrise in West Hollywood, originally built in 1963- and updated by in 2005 (redid Lobby and Hallways, as well as new roof). 818 Doheny Drive is a full-service concierge building with some really great amenities. Recently 838 Doheny next store underwent a huge renovation. The HOA for 818 Doheny is thinking about doing something similar although they are still in the preliminary planning stages.
818 North Doheny Drive is located in the Norma Triangle neighborhood of West Hollywood. Residents who want West Hollywood’s walkability but don’t want to be ‘too too’ close to Santa Monica will enjoy this location. Norma Traingle is a quiet residential neighborhood with well kept sidewalks. Doheny Drive is a Los Angeles icon street that is lined by forty foot tall palm trees on either side. Although Doheny has a pretty steady flow of traffic at all times of the day, it is only two lanes and never backs up and not noisy. You can’t get any closer to Beverly Hills while being in West Hollywood. The other side of the street is Beverly Hills City Limits.
From Doheny Plaza you are five minutes to Bristol Farms and Beverly Hills Ralphs at the corner of Beverly and Doheny. If you prefer to shop for groceries at West Hollywood Pavilions that’s five minutes away also. Doheny Plaza residents have the great outdoor cafe’s at Sunset Plaza, and great dinning options on Santa Monica Blvd within 5 minutes. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive are just a hop skip and a jump away for even more options. One local favorite is the BOA steakhouse, I love the interior design of this place, which has a great bar to meet up for drinks. I also have to mention my favorite Italian Restaurant Dan Tana’s which you can walk to.
The 14-floor West Hollywood Highrise is home to 90 condominium units, which is mainly two bedrooms, and a good number of one bedrooms. There are 4 3Br penthouses. There are (20) One-bedroom condos- stacks #4 and #6, they are quite spacious for a 1 BR and range in size from 1,154 – 1,193 square feet; (66) two-bedroom condos range from 1,451 – 2,347 square feet- stacks #1,#2,#3,#5,#7, and #8 and (4) penthouse three-bedroom apartments come in at about 3,040 square feet. Floors two through 11 have eight units per floor. Floors 12, and 14 (really the 13th floor but number 14 because everyone always skips that floor) are the Penthouse levels. Stacks #1 and #2 face Doheny and are street facing. Stacks #7 and #8 are east facing and get Morning light plus views of the Pacific Design Center. The Odd number stacks have views of the Santa Monica Mountains, the even number units have view of the Los Angeles Basin and century city. In General the south Facing units have the best views and sell for a premium to the north facing units.

Cool Midecentury Double Doors enter directly into the living room that carries a long view to the balcony. The Double doors make it really easy to move.
Many owners have upgraded their balcony windows with new double pane sliding glass doors ($8,000 to $10,000 upgrade) or enclosed the balcony to add additional square footage to their condos. The dinning room seats 4 and is just off the kitchen. Most of the original kitchens have been remodeled at this point. Kitchens are galley style with plenty of counter space and require very few steps. No Gas in the building, so Kitchens have Electric Cook tops. Some owners remove completely or open up the wall between the living room and kitchen to give a more modern feel.
Masterbedroom are 12′ x 18′ and each bedroom has a large window. Masterbedrooms have their own private masterbath and humongous walk in closet. For 2Br floorplans, the bedrooms are side by side and not split.
Unfortunately the masterbathroom is a 3/4 bath, with no tub. Some owners who don’t need all that closet space extend the master bathroom into the closet as you can see here:

The Doheny Plaza has the convenience and hospitality of highrise. When you arrive home- simply hand your keys to the valet and they do the rest! When its time to go out, you call valet and have your car readied so when you come down your car will be waiting for you. Whenever you in or out you are greeted by the front desk, who registers all visitors and can pick up packages. An 818 Doheny Address is sure to impress. Doheny Plaza is one of a handful of highrises in the West Hollywood/Hollywood Hills/Beverly Hills Part of town, and you don’t have to sell the farm to buy one- you can get into this building for less than a million. The quiet luxury of the building is perfect for relaxation. The simple design and strong lines of the architecture are modern and elegant. The Bedroom windows and sliding glass door from the living room to the balcony brighten condos with natural light.
On-site amenities are another draw for Doheny Plaza. The swimming pool are perfect for lazy summer days. Host a party or get-together in the banquet hall or conference room, just like you would in a luxury hotel. Overnight guests? Have them check in for a guest suite. And, of course, there’s nothing better to waking up to the view of the Hollywood Hills and Santa Monica Mountains that you’ll get from your private glass-door balcony. Discerning Doheny Plaza residents love their luxuries, but they prefer to have them in the comfort and privacy of their own home. When you don’t feel the need to see and be seen, but still want to be treated like a king or queen, Doheny Plaza is for you.
Parking & Laundry
Parking Spaces area Assigned by the building manager and may change. Since the building owns the garage, there is no fee for the parking spaces, and even though specific spaces are not deeded you will always have the number of spaces that are assigned to your condo. 1 parking space for 1 bedrooms and 2 parking spaces for 2brs.
Laundry is a bit of a drag in Doheny Plaza. No Laundry in Unit and Laundry cannot be added. There are laundry rooms on each floor that each condo on the floor shares. However, in my opinion, there are not enough machines. There is only 1 washer and 1 dryer in each laundry room on each floor. I wish there was two of each. Anyway, the management has made a laundry schedule so that everyone can use the machines. The building has a special deal with a local dry cleaners for owners who don’t want to deal with laundry.
Prices vary by floor, bedroom count, and condition. Many of the units in 818 Doheny Dr have undergone extensive remodeling and they trade at a premium, but generally speaking a one-bedroom condo sells for $600,000 to $700,000 and two-bedrooms sells for $900,000 to $1,200,000.
Home Owner’s Association
Home Owner’s Association dues are $750 a month for 1 Brs and $1,000 to $1,500 a month for two bedrooms.
HOAs cover: valet, front desk, building maintenance and insurance, EQ insurance, All utilities included in HOA dues (water, basic cable, electricity,a/c and heat) and free Wifi.
Pet Policy: 1 pet maximum, dog weight up to 35 lbs.
Rental Policy: Owners must occupy condo first year. No Short term Air BnB rentals.
Showings: No Weekend or Holiday Showings (except Open houses). Weekday showings Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
